Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
